π» Is your SaaS website generating fewer than 50,000 organic clicks a month?
Hereβs a tried-and-tested SEO strategy on how to rank for over 1,000 additional keywords in just 90 days.ππ½
π Create an Industry Glossary π
Start with 15 keywords and then expand your list every month.
So how do you determine which keywords to target? π€
#1 Research Keywords
β First, identify the key terms that resonate with people in your industry. [Weβre creating people first content].
- For example, all of the following terms would be relevant for an ecommerce SaaS provider:
- Lifetime Value (LTV)
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
- Conversion Rate
- Click Through Rate (CTR)
- Average Order Value (AOV)
- Buyer Persona
- Cross Selling
- Inventory
Look how wide our net is.
We’ve ranged from financial terms linked to eCommerce to concepts like buyer persona.
#2 Find 15 Keywords
β½ Your goal is to curate a diverse list of keywords. Aim to include a mix of keywords that fall under:
β
Less than 30% KD + Fewer than 500 monthly searches
β
31-50% KD + Fewer than 500 monthly searches
β
More than 51% KD + Fewer than 500 monthly searches
β
Less than 20% KD + 500 – 10,000 monthly searches
β
21-50% KD + more than 10,000 monthly searches
Segmenting your keywords this way improves your chances of ranking.
β If you choose 15 keywords all above 70% KD with over 30,000 searches, then you probably wonβt see results within 90 days. β
β After determining your keywords create your directory. For an eCommerce reporting SaaS, this might look like: /ecommerce-glossary/
β Design an intuitive page, allowing users to easily find a list of terms in an A-Z format. There’s so many good examples out there, just google “Glossary of terms”.
#3 Create Content
βπ½ Next, it’s content creation time.
In my mother tongue, Punjabi, there’s a saying βFaha Vhad,β which means ‘getting something over and done with ASAP.’ That’s not what you’re aiming for. Strive to create world-class, βvadhiyaβ (excellent) content.
#4 Internal Link
β Once your content is ready, internal link, internal link & internal link. β
β
Include at least 15 internal links to your glossary pillar page from your top-performing articles.
β
Add a minimum of 5 internal links to other content pieces on your site from your glossary articles (a mix of high-performing, relevant, posts and other glossary pages).
β
Make sure that each glossary post contains at least 5 incoming internal links (from a blend of relevant top-performing articles and other glossary pages).
β
Make use of breadcrumbs.
β
Include a link to the glossary from your navigation and/ or footer.
#5 Monitor Progress
π Follow these steps and within 90 days, you can present your team, manager, C-Suite & more with tangible SEO results. π
An industry glossary will help you rank for more keywords, and improve traffic.
Youβll also amplify your βtopical relevancyβ – solidifying your SaaS’s website as an authority in your domain – which will in turn make it easier to rank for your money keywords.
